Tie-Dye is a bound resist form of dying that uses ties to manipulate the flow and pattern of dyes on the fabric to create layered and blended colors. We twist, fold, pleat, crumple and otherwise artfully mutilate the clothing into unique designs. The ties determine the final shape and patterns in the final design which can be anything from the completely abstract to any geometrical figure that is bi-laterally or radially symmetrical.
To dye our products, we use the direct dye method, applying the dye right to the fabric. This affords us precise control of the penetration of the dyes. It is a lot like watercolor painting...on fabric! By layering and mixing some of the colors directly on the piece, we can create designs with depth and texture.
We hand-mix every color in what has become an extensive palate, and we're constantly experimenting to produce new shades and color combinations. Our bright, vivid colors are the best quality fabric dyes, colorfast and permanent, so only best quality, 100% natural cloth will do.
Intricate pleats, twists, crumples, and folds that have taken years of practice to perfect create designs like the Peace Sign, the Starburst, the Fleur de Lis, and the Swirl.
